Willy Wonka's golden ticket returns - this time with real-life hotel stays and (almost) all the chocolate you could eat
Let the sugar rush begin.
Booking.com and Warner Bros. are teaming up for the collaboration no one was expecting to see built around Wonka: bookable stays at ‘Sweet Suites’ if you can nab a golden ticket fast enough.
The team-up is happening to celebrate the holidays and the debut of Wonka on December 15 in the US (the UK is getting it this Friday). The companies are offering “two limited-time sugary stays at Wonka’s Sweet Suites in New York and Los Angeles.” If you’re wondering what these entail, your best guess is probably right. They’re “epic suites inspired by the film” and full of chocolate confections and the most rococo decorations you can think of. Of course, the two lucky pairs of guests will also get tickets to see Wonka, which is looking healthy over at Rotten Tomatoes after the review embargo was lifted.
The not-so-sweet news? Wonka’s Sweet Suites “will become bookable on a first-come, first served basis on December 13.” The two stays, one at Park Lane New York in New York City and another at Viceroy Santa Monica in Los Angeles, will take place December 15 - 16 and are priced at only $12.15. This covers the stays, itineraries, and even the needed airport transfers through Booking.com, so if you’ve got the time and are in the US, giving this a try sounds like a no-brainer. Good luck, you’ll need it.
Wonka starts Timothée Chalamet as a young Willy Wonka in Paul King’s first movie since 2017’s Paddington 2. If you haven’t been following the promotional material and previews, this is the official synopsis as told by WB’s site: “Based on the extraordinary character at the center of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald Dahl’s most iconic children’s book and one of the best-selling children’s books of all time, “Wonka” tells the wondrous story of how the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker became the beloved Willy Wonka we know today.” Yup, that sounds like a good fit for King’s sensibilities.
Looking for a simpler way (and more readily available) way to celebrate the release of the movie? IHOP is going wild with its new Wonka-themed menu.
