Even in the increasingly populated DC Universe, Wonder Woman stands apart from the rest of her superhero peers. Look at the full list of May’s DC books to see what I mean. Superman and Batman have their hands full of threats to their respective cities, and there are a host of new beginnings and one beginning of the end, as well as some classic collections, but who else is doing what Wonder Woman does? Nobody, that’s who.

As the song goes, all the world is waiting for her, and the power she possesses… and with good reason. Wonder Woman is a genuine icon who’s enjoyed a renaissance across the last few years. (The less said about that same song’s mention of “satin tights,” the better, even if it does rhyme that with “fighting for our rights.”)

This summer, Diana’s comic book renaissance continues, as her monthly comic continues the storyline of her struggle against the forces of Sovereign, with new readers able to catch up with the announcement of the first collected edition of the new series this July. Also being collected, Jordie Bellaire and Paulina Ganucheau’s none-more-charming Adventures of Young Diana stories, offering a glimpse at the upbringing of the Woman who would one day be Wonder(ful). Keep reading to see what’s coming up for DC’s leading lady.

The world may know her as Wonder Woman, but once upon a time she was Diana, the young princess of Themyscira. Back then, she struggled to find her place on an island deemed paradise by many, but which was, to her, a prison. Trapped in her role as a royal and shielded from the harsh realities of Man's World, Diana yearned for adventure, or at least a purpose. So when ancient texts portraying her home's history go missing, she gets both. How far will our hero go to find the texts and the truths they're hiding? Find out in this exciting story that promises to be a classic for years to come! Collected for the first time, these stories by Eisner Award-winner Jordie Bellaire and rising star Paulina Ganucheau provide an intimate look into Wonder Woman's upbringing and dangerous secrets of her past!
