There are a lot of superhero movie universes out there and a lot of superhero stories to be told in each of them, whether it’s the MCU and its related universes — after all, as the first trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine makes clear, the Fox X-Men movie universe is definitely part of the MCU’s multiverse, with the TVA getting involved to prove it — or the new DCU, launching with next year’s Superman, or even Sony’s very strange, oddly compelling cinematic universe of Spider-Man supporting characters (which is, technically Earth-688 in the MCU’s multiverse, because it all connects back up all over again. It’s the kind thing you might need a scorecard to keep track of… but, thankfully, that’s just why we’re here.
Popverse has assembled a list of all the upcoming superhero movies, from Marvel and DC to Sony/Columbia, Netflix, Amazon, and other outlets. Theatrical? Yes. Streaming? Yes. Direct-to-video? That too. Even the 10-film DC Studios 'chapter one' slate that is Gods & Monsters.
We'll be updating this every time a new superhero movie is announced and every time a release date is changed. If you're more into superhero TV, we have a similar guide for the superhero TV schedule. So stay tuned - and don't step on our cape!

What is the next superhero movie?
The next superhero movie to hit theaters is going to be Deadpool & Wolverine, which will be released July 26. In terms of movies that are currently scheduled, that’s the next superhero movie that we know when to expect, but it’s possible that some of the 2024 releases we don’t have exact dates for — like Netflix’s Ultraman: Rising, which was trailed as far back as November 2023 — might show up first.
What is the only Marvel movie coming out in 2024?
Again, the answer to that is Deadpool & Wolverine, on July 26. There were initially three Marvel Studios movies set for release this year, but 2023’s combination of WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes made that impossible, pushing both Thunderbolts and the next Captain America movie into 2025. Deadpool & Wolverine is the sole Marvel Studios theatrical release this year, but don’t worry; there are also plenty of streaming options to keep track of, too; we made you a list.
Will Chris Evans return as Captain America?
Hold on there, friend; just because we mentioned a new Captain America movie, we weren’t talking about the same Captain America that fans have seen in the previous movies. Instead, we’re talking about the new Cap of the MCU, Sam Wilson. He inherited the shield in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and 2025’s Captain America: Brave New World being his first full outing in the role on the big screen. Why would we want Chris Evans back for that?
One thing almost as hard as keeping track of all the upcoming superhero movies is making sense of all the superhero movies that have already come out - especially for those DC films. To that end, here's a guide to how to watch the DC movies in order - including release order, chronological order, and by franchise.
