Orlando Bloom has a new show on Peacock - but is asking fans if anyone actually watches Peacock

Orlando Bloom has put together an intense series. Orlando Bloom: To the Edge follows the movie star as he embarks on a series of extreme activities, such as free diving and rock climbing. According to the promotional copy, “With family, friends and his spiritual Buddhist practice guiding the way, Orlando is trained by experts who help him overcome obstacles, face his fears and discover valuable lessons about himself.”
That sounds awesome. Orlando Bloom just isn’t sure if any of us are watching it. The series is a Peacock exclusive, meaning that it could only be found on the NBCUniversal streaming service. Bloom isn’t sure how to feel about this.
During a spotlight panel at ACE Superhero Comic Con 2024, Bloom spoke candidly about the Peacock situation. “I do a lot of wild and crazy stuff, as seen in this show I did for Peacock. I don’t know if any of you guys saw it. Orlando Bloom: To the Edge, It was one of these things where we dropped it on Peacock. I was like, ‘Does anybody watch Peacock?’ I think Peacock is great but…”
Bloom trailed off before finishing the thought. He did look at the audience when he asked if they had seen his show, and if they had Peacock. These seemed to be genuine questions.
According to the website Statista, Peacock has at least 34 million subscribers. By comparison Max has 100 million, Disney+ has 153 million, and Netflix has 269 million. Still, 34 million isn’t anything to sneeze at.
To answer Orlando Bloom’s question, I am one of those 34 million subscribers. The show Poker Face got me hooked. Peacock may not be winning the streaming wars, but maybe Bloom’s con appearance gave the service a few new subscribers. His appeal was an interesting one, but if it gets results, I suppose that’s a good thing.
