Set sail for the Grand Line with the crew of Netflix’s One Piece. After a slew of casting announcements in late June, Netflix has confirmed that the second season of One Piece is officially in production and that a whole slew of new faces will be joining the crew of the Merry Go as they finally make their way to the unpredictable Grand Line.

The production announcement also confirmed that not only were the five main stars of season one all returning for One Piece season two, but they are also on set in Cape Town, South Africa to film the second season. The video shows Iñaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy), Mackenyu (Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji) all making their way to the set before being reunited on the set of the Merry Go.

Netflix stopped short of confirming that the second season had begun filming, though getting the cast together would imply that they aren’t far off from the cameras rolling if they aren’t already at that point. If filming has started on season two of One Piece, then Netflix could be looking at a late 2025 or early 2026 release date, though that is pure speculation on our part.

Now that production is officially underway, we’re looking forward to more casting announcements for the show. Based on who they’ve cast so far, it looks like Netflix is once again going to tackle multiple arcs with One Piece season two, potentially going all the way through the end of the Alabasta arc and the showdown with Baroque Works that was briefly hinted at in season one. The first season was one of 2023's biggest shows for the streamer so expectations are suitably high for the second outing.
