If you’re a fan of the Netflix Daredevil series, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have your back.

When Marvel began developing Daredevil: Born Again, the studio tried to move away from the tone of the Netflix series. Characters like Karen Page and Foggy Nelson were originally omitted. In fact, Marvel Studios had said that the Netflix series wasn’t canon to the MCU.

After shooting a few episodes, Marvel Studios realized something wasn’t working. The show was given a creative overhaul, bringing it closer to the original Netflix series. Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Hensen will be back as Foggy and Karen, and the series will now be an official continuation of the Netflix show.

It turns out that Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio were more involved in that discussion than we originally thought. The two actors personally appealed to Marvel, hoping they could deliver a show the fans deserved. During a spotlight panel at Fan Expo Boston 2024, Cox and D’Onofrio spoke about the show’s creative overhaul.

“Marvel had been incredibly open-minded and willing to correct course, and incredibly supportive,” Cox said. “Early on, we were trying something that was a bit different, and very quickly they were able to identify that wasn’t maybe working as well as it could’ve done. Where we are now, I think I can speak for both of us that we feel very happy.”

According to D’Onofrio, the actors never forgot about the fans of the Netflix series and brought them up to Marvel during the creative overhaul.

“The best thing about the situation is what Charlie just said about the bosses at Marvel, and also the fact that Charlie and I were a team. We just supported each other in everything that each other wanted, whether we were in the scene or not. Whether it featured our characters, it didn’t matter. As a team Charlie and I considered the story and the fans. Literally, I’m not shitting you. You guys, we considered you constantly and brought you up constantly.”

Daredevil: Born Again will truly be a show for the fans, and we can thank Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio.

Daredevil: Born Again will premiere on March 2025.
