It's been over 13 years since we last saw a TRON movie in theaters. That'll change in 2025, but for those of us who need more TRON now, Disney is obliging. The studio officially released a first look at the upcoming TRON: Ares on February 29, 2024.

"TRON: Ares," reads Disney's press release, "follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings."

That feels a little prescient, no?

The movie sports an all-star cast, including names like Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson. Directing the film is Joachim Rønning, who Disney's tapped before for both the Pirates of the Caribbean and Maleficent franchises.

"I’m excited to be part of the TRON franchise," says Rønning, "and bring this new film to fans around the world. TRON: Ares builds upon the legacy of cutting-edge design, technology and storytelling. Now more than ever, it feels like the right time to return to the Grid."

You can check out the first look at TRON: Ares (which we assume features the main character?) below:

TRON: Ares is set to release in 2025. Until then, you can stream the other TRON movies on Disney+.
