The biggest mystery of The Strangers movie franchise could be revealed soon: Who is Tamara, and 'Is Tamara home?'

Solomon revealed the often-referenced, never-seen will soon make an appearance... but not in The Strangers: Chapter 1

"Is Tamara home?"

Sounds like an innocent enough question, unless you're a fan of The Strangers franchise of horror films. In both The Strangers and its sequel, The Strangers: Prey at Night, the titular invader/killers begin their interactions with their victims by asking about this mystery person, though the audience never learns who she is. Well, according to producer Courtney Solomon, that's about to change.

At Emerald City Comic Con 2024, Solomon appeared in conversation with Riverdale's Madelaine Petsch. The pair make up a giant part of the next Strangers film, The Strangers: Chapter 1, which Solomon produced and Petsch leads as character Maya. During the fan Q&A portion of the panel, the topic turned to the future of the films, and Solomon decided to share a tantalizing detail:

"In Chapter 2," said the producer, "You might actually get your first glimpse of Tamara."

"You're really leaking the big ones here," responded Petsch, a self-avowed Strangers fanatic.

Before you get too excited, remember: the movie Solomon is talking about is not The Strangers: Chapter 1, coming out this summer. It's the sequel to that, movie, Chapter 2.

There is good news, however - horror fans won't have to wait long until The Strangers: Chapter 2 debuts. At least, not according to Solomon.

"If we get our way," said Solomon, "[the wait between films] is a couple of months. And boom, there's the next one."

For now, though, we'll just have to wait. The Strangers: Chapter 1 slices into theaters May 17, 2024.
