The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #1 introduces new heroes to a newer New York this March

Ask people on the street to name the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and, odds are, you'll find a healthy dose of correct answers. Especially if you look for people that are now or have been children in the past 30-ish years. Here's the problem, though - very soon, there will be multiple answers to the question.

TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #1 is on comic stands everywhere March 6, and with it, a whole new crop of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is crawling out of the sewer. While this isn't the firts time we've met the newbies (their first appearance was in the final pages of TMNT: The Last Ronin), this will be their first time in the spotlight - and in the crosshairs of a city's worth of villains.

Written by Turtles creator Kevin Eastman and frequent TMNT scribe Tom Waltz, TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution features art by Isaac Escorza, Esau Escorza and Ben Bishop, colors by Edgar Delgado, and letters by Shawn Lee. The comic was announced at SDCC 2023, garnering a massive response from a room packed full of fans - new generations and old.

That hype is very much still on. Publisher IDW has taken to X/Twitter to unveil one new retailer-exclusive cover PER DAY leading up to the release date, starting a full month before. Elsewhere, the comic has made the list of IGN's most anticipated comics of 2024. And according to Comichron.com, TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #1 was in the top three most reatailer-reordered advanced comics in the beginning of 2024.

With all this hype, surely you must be asking...

WHo are the new TMNT in The Lats Ronin II - Re-Evolution?

You'll have to wait until TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution is in your hands to dive into their personalities, but we can tell you right now that thir names are Yi, Uno, Odyn, and Moja, and that they are taught and mentored by Casie Marie Jones, the daughter of April O'Neil and Casey Jones. As for what threats they'll face, we'll let IDW's official synopsis do the talking:

"More than a decade after the Last Ronin defeated the Foot Clan, New York City finds itself in a state of steady decline. Now, the disparate gangs vie for economic and political control and that the chaos is taking its toll. It's clear to Casey Marie that if something isn't done soon, the city she knows and loves will be lost forever. So, whether they're ready or not, she and her young pupils must raise a new coalition and lead the charge to keep the peace."

Something tells me that they are, in fact, not ready. But hey, there's hope yet - shell power is genetic, after all.

You can preorder TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #1 on Amazon right now, or pick it up from your local comic shop on March 6, 2024. And if you're lucky enough to be at Emerald City Comic Con 2024, you can buy an advance copy at the IDW booth.

While supplies last, of course.
