The Joker and Lex Luthor's untold first meeting gets revealed in DC's Batman/Superman: World's Finest in 2024
March's World's Finest #25 tells the previously unseen secret history of how the two bad guys teamed up
We’ve seen what happened the first time that Superman and Batman met — but what about their respective arch-nemeses? The upcoming 25th issue of the fan-favorite Batman/Superman: World’s Finest comic book series is ready to finally tell that story. And it’s not just the usual suspects who’ll be showing up to cause chaos, either.
In a story by series regulars Mark Waid and Dan Mora, the first meeting between the Joker and Lex Luthor will finally be revealed, as the two get together to shake things up for their respective counterparts — but there’s an extra element to the issue that needs to be mentioned: spinning out of January’s Batman/Superman: World’s Finest Annual #1, Doom-Mite is also going to make an appearance that sets up the next big World’s Finest storyline. Yes, really: Doom-Mite.
Mora provides two covers for the issue: a regular cover showing Batman, Superman, Lex Luthor, and the Joker, and a special variant featuring the Justice League and a surprise guest: William Shatner. (Mora has previously created variants for World’s Finest featuring Nic Cage, Paul McCartney, Jerry Seinfeld, and Jack White.) There are a whole host of additional artists also providing variant covers, with Jamal Campbell, Dustin Nguyen, Dave Johnson, Joelle Jones, Alvaro Martinez Bueno, Christian Ward, and Stevan Subic all lending their talents to proceedings.
This legitimate slice of DC history — both for the subject matter and, let’s be honest, the creative line-up — will be released March 19, 2024. Click through the gallery below to see the covers for yourself. (And for those who’re still thinking, “Wait, Doom-Mite?” to themselves, Batman/Superman: World’s Finest Annual #1 will be released January 30, 2024.)
