The Fall Guy live show coming to Universal Studios Hollywood, celebrating the unsung heroes of film

Without stunt performers, we wouldn't have most of the movies we watch.

There is something very meta coming to Universal Studios Hollywood. The park’s newest live show is set to be The Fall Guy Stuntacular Pre-Show, a live stunt performance inspired by a movie about a stuntman doing death-defying stunts in a movie. Because watching someone laugh death in the face on the big screen isn’t enough: we need to see it live.

The new show promises an original storyline that celebrates some of the most underappreciated cogs in the Hollywood machine – stunt performers. They’re absolutely essential to every action film you’ve ever watched, risking their lives to ensure that all those annoyingly good-looking leading men and ladies stay that way. The Fall Guy Stuntacular Pre-Show aims to offer an insight into how stuntpeople make jumping from an exploding car onto a boat that is also exploding seem like it would result in anything other than grizzly death.

The whole setup is produced by 87North, the production company behind Bullet Train, Deadpool 2, and John Wick, and is meant to be viewed before Ryan Gosling beats the heck out himself as a stuntman in The Fall Guy in one of Universal Studios Hollywood’s cinemas, but we’re honestly more excited by anything that highlights how important stuntpeople are to the movie business. For several years now, there has been a call to add a new category to most award shows to celebrate the best stunts in movies. It would be great if a film all about stuntpeople helped make it happen.

The Fall Guy opens in cinemas on May 3, 2024 while the Fall Guy Stuntacular Pre-show will be playing from April 27 to May 19, 2024 at Universal Studios Hollywood’s WaterWorld attraction.
