Eli Roth's Thanksgiving release date is going to gobble you up
The film promises to offer big servings of over-the-top violence.
This November it won’t just be the turkey that is getting carved thanks to the upcoming slasher film, Thanksgiving. Directed by Eli Roth, who rose to fame by helming films like Hostel and Cabin Fever, the holiday-themed horror flick promises to serve up healthy cuts of violence and gore for viewers, but what is the release date for Thanksgiving? It might be coming sooner than you think.
Almost a week before families gather around the dinner table to gorge themselves on turkey and mashed potatoes, horror fans will be hitting the theater for a feast of violence and gore. The release date for Thanksgiving is November 17, making it the perfect conversation piece when Grandma is asking what you’ve been up to for the past year.
Thanksgiving – the movie rather than the holiday – has some very unusual origins. It started as a parody trailer shown during the 2007 movie Grindhouse. Roth soon began making plans to develop the short clip into a feature-length movie, spending the next decade working on it on and off. The film is about a mysterious serial killer known as John Carver who appears in Plymouth, Massachusetts following a deadly Black Friday riot. Carver’s origins are unknown but he intends to turn the town’s inhabitants into the most gruesome Thanksgiving feast we’ve ever seen.
If you can't wait for the actual release to see the movie, we're streaming Eli Roth's upcoming NYCC panel direct to you.
Thanksgiving hits cinemas on November 17 in the US and stars Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Rick Hoffman, Gina Gershon, and Nell Verlaque.
