Studio Ghibli teases Lucasfilm collaboration
Studio Ghibli's Japan Twitter account posted a video featuring both Lucasfilm and Studio Ghibli logos
On Thursday, Studio Ghibli's Twitter account tweeted a short video featuring alternating views of the Studio Ghibli logo and the Lucasfilm logo. Though no other information has been presented as of yet, it looks like we'll be seeing some sort of Studio Ghibli and Lucasfilm collaboration in the future.

This will not be the first time that Disney and Studio Ghibli have collaborated. In fact, in the '90s, '00s, and early '10s, Disney was Ghibli's primary home video distributor outside of Japan. It's also important to note that Walt Disney Studios Japan owns 10% of Studio Ghibli.
As of right now, the only announced upcoming Studio Ghibli project is an animated film titled How Do You Live? (an adaptation of the Yoshino Genzaburō novel) which will be directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The film, following delays caused by COVID-19, is scheduled to release in 2026.
But that doesn't mean that Ghibli hasn't continued to make a cultural impact. A stage production of Studio Ghibli classic My Neighbor Totoro recently premiered in London, and Ghibli Park, a theme park featuring attractions based on movies produced by Studio Ghibli, just opened in Japan at the start of the month.
While Studio Ghibli is known for its own creations, it has partnered with other companies for years on co-produced projects - ranging from video games to movies, and even commercials.
Likewise, Lucasfilm has partnered with others. One possible scenario is Studio Ghibli taking part in an upcoming season of the animated anthology series Star Wars: Visions. The first season featured animated shorts created by seven independent anime studios, and a second season has already been announced.
While we aren't sure exactly what form this teased collaboration between Lucasfilm and Studio Ghibli might take, Lucasfilm has continued to expand their slate of successful animated shows with Bad Batch, Star Wars Visions, and Tales of the Jedi.
