Get ready to return to Hawkins, as Stranger Things season 5 - the final season of Netflix's hit show - is mounting up to begin jumping in early January - possibly as early as January 5, according to Deadline.

Stranger Things season 5 was planned to begin filming in May 2022, but following the WGA Writer's Strike it was decided by showrunners the Duffer Brothers to hold off as not having writers on-set would hamper the production. This was exaverbated by the ensuring actor's strike, but now that the actors and writers both have received fairer contracts the show is back on.

In fact, Stranger Things co-star David Harbour said plans were in motion 10 minutes after the actor's strike was resolved.

"They literally called me, I think it was 10 minutes after the SAG thing on Twitter,” he told People. "The first AD is like, ‘So, get the flight for you on Monday, right? We’ll be acting in Atlanta.'"

Much of the Stranger Things cast is already on-site at Altanta, where the series films, for prep work.

So when is the Stranger Things season 5 release date

It's too soon to say but projections can be made. Stranger Things season 4 took 15 months to film, while the previous season took 7. Post-production on season 5 took 8 months, so Stranger Things season 5 shouldn't be expected until early 2025 at the earliest based on information currently available.
