The final frontier keeps growing, with the news that Paramount+ has renewed two of its ongoing Star Trek series for new seasons, ahead of the launch of their next seasons. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has been renewed for a third season of 10 episodes, while Star Trek: Lower Decks will get a fifth season, also comprising of 10 episodes.

At the same time as the renewals were announced, it was revealed that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will begin its second season on June 15, 2023, with Star Trek: Lower Decks’ fourth season scheduled to launch later in the summer. It’s perhaps worth noting that the second season of Strange New Worlds will feature a crossover episode with Lower Decks, featuring the live-action debut of a number of Lower Decks’ characters.

News of the shows’ renewals comes less than a month after it was announced that Star Trek: Discovery would come to an end with its upcoming fifth season, scheduled to launch early in 2024. The current season of Star Trek: Picard currently streaming on Paramount+ is also that series’ last, although cast and crew have hinted at the possibility of a spin-off featuring Star Trek: The Next Generation actors on multiple occasions.

The second season of Nickelodeon’s Star Trek: Prodigy, an animated series set in the era between Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Picard, is set to debut this winter.

You can catch up on all of these Star Trek series on Paramount+
