For many fans, Buffy the Vampire Slayer was an escape. The show allowed fans to dive into a world full of supernatural and fantasy adventures, while also giving them the chance to connect with the characters, their emotions, and complex conversations. The series created a world that was exciting to explore throughout its many seasons. Not only was the show exiting for the fans, but it was also exciting for the cast who felt they were creating something special.
During a conversation at Seattle's Emerald City Comic Con 2023, James Marsters (Spike) spoke with fans about being an avid convention goer, and how his love for the world of Star Trek, felt similar to the world he was creating on Buffy.
"I was a Star Trek fan. I knew what was going to happen, and I still wanted to go back into that world," stated Marsters. "And it struck me while we were filming that, Buffy might be the same way. We might be creating a world that was fun enough to go into."
