After breaking into comics in DC's Vertigo editorial team and later shepherding DC comics to television, Pornsak Pichetshote came into his own as a writer with his creator-owned series Infidel and the Good Asian at Image Comics - two books which garnered not only reader and critical praise, but industry awards from the bastion that is the Eisner Awards. Recently Pichetshote took a step into DC Comics' new interconnected Sandman Universe as the writer on Dead Boy Detectives (drawn by Jeff Stokely). The series traditionally follows the after lives of Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine who debuted in Sandman #25. The latest series introduces a new Thai-American supporting character and greatest diversity of ghosts than the boys have ever seen before!

Popverse’s Ashley V. Robinson was lucky enough to sit down remotely with Dead Boy Detectives writer and The Good Asian creator Pornsak Pichetshote on Enter the Popverse to talk about the similarities and differences between the two series and the responsibility of joining The Sandman Universe.

“It's a funny thing. I worked at Vertigo and I actually got into all the stuff inspired by Sandman,” Pichetshote laughs telling Popverse about how he first fell in love with all things Sandman, "and I don't think I actually started reading Sandman until after I worked at Vertigo."
