A Quiet Place: Day One tells the first chapter of the story, and here's a Quiet Place watch order to tell what happened next

Check out the movies in release order or, if you feel like it, start with the prequel and go chronological. Either way, we'll tell you how to do it

The beginning of the end has arrived, with A Quiet Place: Day One now playing in theaters — buy tickets on Fandango or Atom Tickets — heralding the arrival of those pesky aliens whose sense of hearing is just a little bit too sharp for humanity’s good.

But with the retroactive first chapter of the story now out there in the world — and causing no small amount of buzz, ironically (keep it quiet!) — you’d be forgiven for wanting to return to the Quiet Place series for a longer stay. That’s why I've put together this watch order for A Quiet Place just for you. Silence your notifications (and maybe breathing) and check it out.

How to watch A Quiet Place in release order

Considering there's only three entries in the entire Quiet place saga (so far...), all you need to know to watch the movies in release order is which came out first. And for those of you as bad at Roman Numerals as I am, it's not the one with 'Part II' in its title. This is how to watch the Quiet Place movies in release order and, since we like you, we've added the upcoming projects as well (more on those later):

Now, say you're not a fan of non-linear storytelling. First of all, do NOT check out our Halloween watch order; that timeline is about as linear as an intestine. In terms of this horror franchise, though, watching the story linearly is not that difficult, at least if you know...

How to watch A Quiet Place in chronological order

You'll have to break the movies up, since part of Part II actually happens before the events of the first Quiet Place film. Here's how to do just that, with timestamps to make it more convenient:

  • A Quiet Place: Day One (2024)
  • A Quiet Place Part II - 0:00-12:06
  • A Quiet Place
  • A Quiet Place part II - 12:07-1:37:08
  • A Quiet Place Part III (2025)

Note: it's unclear where the videogame A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead falls in the chronology, as it seems unconnected from the characters and events of the first two movies in the series. All that can be said for sure is, it's some point after A Quiet Place: Day One.

Now, keeping to the above timeline for viewing might be a little tricky if you've got A Quiet Place Parts I and II on DVD (although those of us that grew up watching the Lord of the Rings extended editions are perfectly fine with swapping discs out). If you're streaming the movies, though, keeping to this order is as simple as having two tabs open. Although, you are going to have to ask yourself...

Where can I watch A Quiet Place?

Since the Quiet Place universe is a product of Paramount Pictures, it shouldn't surprise you at all that both A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II are available to stream on Paramount+.

With a total runtime of just over three hours and seven minutes, it won't take you long to get through the entire Quiet Place franchise that's available to stream in its current state. It only makes sense, then, that you might finish your binge by asking...

Will there be more chapters of A Quiet Place?

There's good, even great news to share on this front, horror fans. All the way back in 2021, while speaking to Collider, Quiet Place star Emily Blunt referred to the films as "a trilogy." In February of 2022, Deadline officially broke the news that A Quiet Place III was in development and aiming for a 2025 release.

It's unclear as of writing as to whether or not A Quiet Place: Day One will have any direct sequels, although there's a lot of space in the timeline of the series to be explored between that movie and the original installment - and, thanks to an appearance by Damon Hounsou's character in both Day One and Part II, some notable amount of backstory that remains to be told, if producers want to explore that. Perhaps we should keep our eyes on the box office of this new movie for any clues, or simply wait for an official announcement.

Until then, we'll be keeping our ears to the ground.

In the immortal words of Danny Elfman, "Life's no fun without a good scare." We couldn't agree more, which is why we think you should check out horror aficionado Greg Silber's list of the best horror movies of all time. And if you've already seen all of those, Let us tell you what to look forward to (or dread) in Popverse's list of upcoming horror movies.

Grant DeArmitt

Grant DeArmitt: Grant DeArmitt (he/him) likes horror, comics, and the unholy pairing of the two. He has written for Nightmare on Film Street and Newsarama, despite their better judgement. He lives in Brooklyn with his partner, Kelsey, and corgi, Legs.
