One Piece Film: Red to make US, Canada debut this fall

15th One Piece film to make fall debut in US, through Crunchyroll and Toei deal

Crunchyroll and Toei Animation Inc. have just announced their agreement for the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand theatrical releases of One Piece Film: Red, the 15th film in the One Piece franchise, this fall. This theatrical release will be accompanied by both subbed and dubbed versions.

One Piece Film: Red is based on the top-selling manga of all time created by Eiichiro Oda, who is also executive producing the film with Toei Animation. The film is directed by Goro Taniguch, who also worked on One Piece Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack! and written by Tsutomu Kuroiwa, who worked on One Piece Film: Gold.

Even more exciting, especially for One Piece fans who live in Los Angeles or who are looking forward to attending Anime Expo this year, there will be a series of special events celebrating this upcoming film at Anime Expo 2022. These events will include a one-night-only musical event with Steve Aoki as well as a panel featuring producer Shinji Shimizu, ADR Director Anthony Bowling, and actors from the English dub, Brandon Potter and Ian Sinclair.

The official film synopsis reads, "Uta —the most beloved singer in the world. Renowned for concealing her own identity when performing, her voice has come to be described as “otherworldly.” Now, for the first time ever, Uta will reveal herself to the world at a live concert. As the venue fills with all kinds of Uta fans —excited pirates, the Navy watching closely, and the Straw Hats led by Luffy who simply came to enjoy her sonorous performance —the voice that the whole world has been waiting for is about to resound. The story begins with the shocking fact that she is Shanks' daughter."
