New Spider-Man series to debut in Shonen Jump
Spider-Man returns to manga with a Shōnen Jump series
A new Spider-Man comic book series is debuting this year - but it's not coming from Marvel.
At the Beyond Amazing: Spider-Man's 60th anniversary panel, Marvel Comics' editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski casually announced that there will be new Spider-Man comic - a manga - that will debut in Shōnen Jump on August 8.
"It's in Jump? My son's finally going to think we're cool," artist Ryan Stegman, who was also on the panel, joked.
Cebulski called the series 'Spider-Man Kizuna,' but there was no confirmation of the spelling with any slide. The writer/artist for the series will be Hachi Mizuno.
Further to that, there wasn't any clarification whether Spider-Man Kizuna would be appearing in Shōnen Jump - the original Japanese weekly magazine, or in the separate non-Japanese versions, including the North American Shōnen Jump+ digital service.
Marvel Comics has a long relationship with Shōnen Jump, having produced several previous manga for the magazine with Marvel chracters including Marvel x Shōnen Jump Collaboration and a limited series Deadpool: Samurai.
Kizuna will be the first of three new planned collaborations between Marvel and Shonen Jump to be published in the coming months, according to Cebulski speaking to Popverse after the panel.
