Netflix has released the first eight minutes of Stranger Things season four

Watch the first eight minutes of Stranger Things season four

Netflix has just released the first eight minutes of the fourth season of its hit show Stranger Things, and what we get to see is kind of creepy. In these eight minutes, we go back into the past, before the start of the show, and get a glimpse into the government institution where Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) trained and manipulated talented children like Eleven (Millie Bobbie Brown). And, at the end of the clip, we see what it looks like when Eleven fights back.

Watch the clip below.

Netflix has also recently announced how many episodes are going to make up Season 4's two parts. The first release on May 27 will include seven of the nine episodes, and those last two episodes will be released on July 1. This split-up episode release was announced by the Duffer brothers back in February, when they explained that the choice was due to the length of the season (which includes extra-long episodes) and an attempt to get episodes out as soon as possible to fans (it's been almost three years from the release of the previous season).

Stranger Things follows a group of young kids (though they're no longer quite as young now) in 1980s Indiana, as they and their families stumble across strange occurrences and secret government projects. The show was created by Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, and stars Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Noah Schnapp, Winona Ryder, Joe Keery, Natalie Dyer, Charlie Heaton, and Maya Hawke. New additions to the cast for season four include Jamie Campbell Bower, Joseph Quinn, and Eduardo Franco.

While the Duffer Brothers are clearly gearing up towards the ending of the show, season four will not be the final season of Stranger Things. It has been renewed for a fifth season as well, which will be its last. There has been no release date (or year) for season five of Stranger Things, but keep your eye on this space, and you'll know when we know.
