The wait isn't completely over, but we're now closer to the release of Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender. To celebrate, here's the second trailer after November's teaser.
Following several interviews with the series' creatives and cast and the gradual rollout of production stills, Netflix has finally shared the second trailer today, January 23. It delivers much of the epicness and ambitious worldbuilding fans were expecting to see, but we can also infer they're saving some big moments (as they should) for the February 22 premiere. You can watch it below:
For those coming in fresh, here's the official synopsis — which is basically a carbon copy of the anime's — as shared by Netflix before the marketing ramped up: "The four nations of the world once lived in harmony, with the Avatar, master of all four elements, keeping peace between them. But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads, the first step taken by the firebenders towards conquering the world." In the original show, the story picks up a century later.
On top of the trailer, Netflix also shared yesterday the main poster for the massive series:
Avatar: The Last Airbender's cast includes Gordon Cormier (Aang), Kiawentiio (Katara), Ian Ousley (Sokka), Dallas Liu (Prince Zuko), Maria Zhang (Suki), Ken Leung (Commander Zhao), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Uncle Iroh), Daniel Dae Kim (Fire Lord Ozai), and Elizabeth Yu (Azula), among others. The series' showrunner is Albert Kim (Pantheon, Sleepy Hollow), who took over following the departure of original TLA creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante.
