Marvel Studios hasn't booked Mantis actor Pom Klementieff for a return - even in the next two Avengers movies

Is this the end of Mantis in the MCU?

Avengers: Secret Wars is set to be released in May 2027, and it might be the biggest MCU film since Avengers: Endgame. The title alone is fodder for speculation, since Secret Wars is the name of two of Marvel’s biggest comic book storylines. Most of us will spend the next three years speculating on all the heroes and villains who might show up.

However, Mantis might not be among them.

During a spotlight panel at ACE Superhero Comic Con 2024, Mantis actress Pom Klementieff said that Marvel hasn’t contacted her about reprising the role for Secret Wars - or anything. “I’m open to it, but no one called me. I don’t know,” Klementieff said.

Does this mean we’ve seen the last of Mantis? Klementieff isn’t so sure. If she gets the phone call, she’d be glad to come back, but only if it was the right storyline.

“I’m always open to it. I love this character. I’m sure the fans would love to see her again, but I don’t know. It depends on the project, and who you work with, and the scenes that you have to do. If it’s just to do that one boring thing, then I don’t know. But I’m open to it for sure. We’ll see.”

Keep in mind, just because she hasn’t been called yet, doesn’t mean a call won’t happen. Plus, it’s also possible that she’s trying to throw us off the scent, ala Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
