Miguel O'Hara moves from Spider-Verse to monster hunting in new comic
The new weekly series runs through January 2024
Miguel O’Hara can’t be stopped. In addition to breaking into the mainstream as the antagonist of this summer’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the Spider-Man of 2099 is kicking off 2024 with a new comic book series that will see him face off against some classic Marvel horror heroes… 2099 style.
The weekly five-issue Miguel O’Hara - Spider-Man 2099 will be written by Steve Orlando, who’s previously handled the character in both Spider-Man 2099: Exodus and Spider-Man 2099: Dark Genesis, with art from a rotating group of artists, with each handling one issue: Devmalya Pramanik, Michael Dowling, Jason Muhr, Chris Campana, and Stefano Rafaele.
Together, the creators will put Miguel through his paces as he meets 2099 versions of Blade, Moon Knight, Terror, Inc., Man-Thing, and Werewolf by Night… although he’ll be called Werewolf by 2099, wonderfully. That’s not all; there will also be appearances from Dracula, and something being called The Marvel Zombie of 2099… whatever that is. (“He lives! He strikes!” teases Marvel… but what could that mean?)
“Returning to 2099 has been a blast, especially with the chance to do this series of one-shots crashing Miguel up against some of Marvel's greatest horror icons--all of whom are newly debuting in 2099!” Orlando said in a statement from the publisher. “I can't think of a better reality to work in than the world of 2099--that dark, neon projection of our own modern day. And no matter the horror coming in the series, Spider-Man 2099 is set to defend his city and his people—whether it's with a gravity-defying moon shot, an infestation of next-generation zombies, or helping a mercenary werewolf finally cut his leash!”
Orlando isn’t the only character returning to 2099 for these books: Nick Bradshaw is returning to provide covers for each issue, which you can see in the gallery below.
