Kingdom's season 5 premiere is delayed one week (but for a good reason)
Despite all our planning, Mother Nature often has other plans.
Sometimes, regardless of how carefully a television schedule is, the unexpected can happen. Fans who have been waiting patiently for the fifth season of Kingdom will have to wait a little bit longer before the first episode drops. Because of the earthquake that hit Japan on New Year's Day, the premiere episode of Kingdom season five has been delayed for a few days.
Originally set to air on January 6 in Japan, Kingdom’s fifth season has been delayed while the country copes with a massive earthquake in the Ishikawa Prefecture. Fortunately, the delay isn’t due to any injuries within the Studio Signpost team. Instead, an announcement from the official Kingdom anime website explained that the delay is because NHK, which is the channel due to air the anime, has dedicated a substantial amount of airtime to reporting on the natural disaster, which has killed more than 200 people and injured hundreds more.
The new release date for Kingdom’s fifth season premiere is January 13, one week after the original air date.
Kingdom takes place during a fictionalized version of the Warring States period of China, which has been a popular subject for anime and video games for decades now. Li Xin is a young warrior who aids Ying Zheng of Qin to unite the kingdom and end the constant warfare that has gripped the nation for generations. It is heavy on action and drama, focusing on the larger-than-life figures who shaped this vital era in Chinese history.
You can stream the first four seasons of Kingdom on Crunchyroll, which will begin streaming the fifth season as soon as it starts airing on January 13, 2024.
