Justice League x RWBY's Jeannie Tirado chats the vulnerable side of Green Lantern
Voice actor Jeannie Tirado dives into what it's like to play an uncertain teenager (and a hero) in Justice League x RWBY: Superherose and Huntsmen Part One
Justice League x RWBY: Superheroes and Huntsmen Part One features the teams of RWBY and the Justice League coming together against a mysterious threat. Incidentally, this mysterious threat happens to de-age the Justice League, stranding them in Remnant as teenagers. This de-aging is disconcerting to most of the members of the Justice League, who are used to being adults, but it hits some members more than others, including the Green Lantern herself.
Before the premiere of the film, Popverse had a chance to chat with Jeannie Tirado who plays Jessica Cruz a.k.a. Green Lantern in the movie about what it was like to play a more vulnerable side of a superhero, especially as a teen. "Being a teenager, it affects you. You can either have feelings for someone or [be] unsure of everything. With [Jessica], she had that teenage insecurity a lot... there's a lot of stuttering. There's a lot of unsureity in the voice," Tirado said.
As for how being a teenager affected her character, Tirado shared, "Because they're placed in a new situation and they're teenagers, it really takes a hard toll on Jessica, where she doesn't really have that imagination because she's dealing with so many other things. Her anxiety goes through the roof in this movie. I really enjoyed voicing the vulnerable aspects of her, the raw aspects of her."
