Greg Capullo draws an amazing Wolverine (but we should've known that by now)

The Wolverine #37 variant, which features Logan in his classic brown and yellow suit, is Capullo's first Marvel cover since 1993.

Get your wallet ready, bub. Greg Capullo is heading back to Marvel.

It's not for a series, though (at least, not that we know of). Capullo is returning to the House of Ideas for a variant cover in the current Wolverine run. Seeing Logan sport his classic browns and yellows, Capullo's razor-sharp variant will be attached to issue #37.

Interestingly, this variant cover marks the return of Capullo after a very, very long absence from Marvel Comics. Though it was the artist's work on X-Force that caught Todd McFarlane's eye and led to Capullo being a Spawn staple for years, he hasn't actually worked for the company since (by our accounting) 1993. Recently, Capullo's gained prominence for his work with DC Comics, particularly his partnership with writer Scott Snyder. Together, the two of them are responsible for titles such as Death Metal and the ground-breaking Court of Owls storyline.

Wolverine #37 will continue the run that began in 2020 with writer Benjamin Percy. Currently featuring pencils by artist Juan Jose Ryp, the comic will see Logan encounter his old rival/pal/enemy the Hulk. Here's more from the official plot synopsis:

"HULK AND WOLVERINE - TOGETHER AGAIN in LAST MUTANT STANDING Part 1! LOGAN's grand tour of the Marvel Universe begins here in the only way it could - face-to-face once more with the INCREDIBLE HULK! But will they meet as friends or enemies? And WOLVERINE hunts down his remaining THREE CLONES from BEAST's WEAPONS OF X, for in the end, there can be only one Logan! The perfect jumping on point as Wolverine's new status quo in the FALL OF X kicks into high gear!"

Wolverine #37 tears into comic shops across the US September 20, 2023.
