For the low, low price of a small house, you could own Gimli's actual axe from the Lord of the Rings trilogy

No home is complete without a double sided dwarven axe.

At the Council of Elrond, the Fellowship of the Ring gathered to discuss the fate of the One Ring and, with it, the fate of Middle-earth as a whole. As the representatives of the Free People of Middle-earth pledged their support to Frodo in his quest, Gimli, son of Glóin, accentuated the conversation with three iconic words.

“And my axe!”

It was one of the most important moments in the first Lord of the Rings movie. It is the moment when the Fellowship of the Ring took shape and has become one of the most quoted lines from a series that is filled with highly quotable moments – “One does not simply walk into Mordor” anyone?

Now, you too can make that solemn, forceful declaration in the most authentic way possible because the axe used by John Rhys-Davies throughout the Lord of the Rings trilogy is going up for auction on March 13, 2024. It is the perfect item to adorn your wall, pass down to future generations of Tolkien fanatics, or make dramatic vows of loyalty before going on an epic quest. Never again will anyone doubt the sincerity of your words – provided you can afford the $100,000 to $200,000 that the prop is expected to go for at auction.

That’s a steep price, especially when you realize that the prop isn’t made of metal because that would be torture to walk around the set with for the more than a year it took to film the trilogy, but who needs a house when you have the perfect exclamation point to any argument at hand? It’s a wise investment, really.

Whether you're Shirefolk, Elven, Dwarven, or something else, there's a good reason to love Lord of the Rings. We do! With that in mind, we have a dragon's horde of goodies for you from a Lord of the Rings reading guide, a Lord of the Rings watch guide, details on the upcoming animated film Lord of the Rings: The War of Rohirrim, a full the Lord of the Rings reunion panel you can watch, how the OG Hobbit actors stay in touch every day on a groupchat, and the true message of the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, according to Gimli himself - John Rhys-Davies.
