Even if you haven’t seen Fist of the North Star before, you’ve probably watched an anime directly influenced by the show. The manga the anime was based on is one of the foundational works in the Shonen genre, with shows like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Dragon Ball, and Berserk all borrowing heavily from the tropes established in Buronson and Tetsuo Hara’s iconic work.

Being so influential, Fist of the North Star spawned multiple anime series and films over the years. Because many of the films take place in the middle of the series or recap specific arcs or episodes, it can be confusing to know what to watch or in what order. That’s where our Fist of the North Star watch order can help, giving you the best ways to watch Kenshiro’s adventures in the post-apocalyptic wasteland he calls home.

As one of the most important anime of all time, it is difficult to see studios leaving Fist of the North Star alone for very long. Last year, Warner Bros. announced that it would be remaking the original Fist of the North Star anime from the beginning. Similar to what Netflix is doing with The One Piece, this anime will be a retelling of Kenshiro’s story using modern animation techniques and the benefit of hindsight to improve the pacing.

A definite release date for this remake hasn’t been announced yet, but it is expected to come out sometime in 2024.
