Maya Lopez AKA Echo has come a long way since being introduced in 1999's Daredevil #9. The character has headlined multiple series, debuted in the MCU in the 2021 Hawkeye series, and will be in her own solo Disney+ series this November. On top of all that, it was just revealed that Maya will be headed back to digital comics in Marvel's Voices: Echo #64.

The announcement came during San Diego Comic Con 2023's Women of Marvel panel, one of several exciting reports regarding Marvel Unlimited titles. And though the numbering of the digital issue is 61, the panel confirmed that this will be the beginning of an all-new, six-issue series, a perfect jumping on point for Echo fans old and new.

So just who's behind Maya's latest trip to the Marvel marketplace? Women of Marvel had the scoop on that as well. Echo #64-69 will be written by Melissa Flores, drawn by Kyle Charles, and colored by Carlos Lopez. The plot appears to pick up weher we last left Echo, having just been the wielder of the Phoenix Force. From the official plot synopsis:

"In the wake of surrendering the Phoenix Force, Echo is called home to the reservation to help her friend and former love interest, River. But what started off as a simple rescue turns into a mind-bending journey that may claim them both!"

River, for those that don't know, is an indigenous superhero introduced by writer Rebecca Roanhorse and artist Shaun Beyale in the 2021 Phoenix Song story arc. Readers will know that the character's relationship with Echo is, well, complicated.

No spoilers here.

Marvel's Voices: Echo #61 will be available exclusively on the Marvel Unlimited digital platform on August 16.
