30+ comics publishing veteran Jim Sokolwski has announced he's left Dynamite Entertainment after two years as its vice president/associate publisher. In a statement posted on his LinkedIn he calls the decision "mutual," and shows that he is no longer interested in that kind of job.

"Dynamite and I have gone our separate ways. I'm not looking for a VP/Dir. Level gig, but if you have a lower/mid level needs, I'd love to connect," reads Sokolowski's post. "Please feel free to reach out if you feel I can help you out in any way."

Sokolowski - who goes by the nickname 'Ski' - was one of four people in Dynamite Entertainment's senior management team, which consists of:

  • Owner/CEO/Publisher Nick Barrucci
  • President/COO Juan Collado
  • VP of IT and Operations Brandon Primavera

At the time of his hiring by Dynamite in February 2021, Sokolowski was considered a revered figure in the comics industry - particularly in his work with comic shops. From 1989 to 2020 he was in the room at the highest levels at Marvel and DC, holding titles such as chief operating officer (Marvel Comics) and VP of comic book specialty & newsstand sales (DC). He was even a senior VP at Archie for three years as well. Longtime comics journalist Heidi MacDonald has called him the "last Jedi Master of comic shop sales and circulation".

There's something in the air. Earlier this month IDW announced a round of layoffs at their company.
