A Dune Part 2 Preview is Coming - But Only to IMAX Theaters
The spice must flow once again (but just on big screens, at least for now)
You might have missed seeing Dune in cinemas, with the 2020 pandemic stretching into 2021 and disrupting theater screenings of the film when it was finally released. With Dune: Part Two scheduled to be released in March of this year, it could be the perfect time to rectify that with Dune returning to IMAX next week for one day only – and bringing something a little extra with it.
On January 24, Dune is coming to IMAX screens around the United States, giving fans the chance to experience Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of the sci-fi classic on the largest screens possible. To help entice you back and to continue to boost Dune’s already impressive box office numbers, these screenings will include a sneak peek at the upcoming Dune: Part Two, according to the announcement on social media.
What that sneak peek will entail isn’t clear just yet. It could be something as simple as a new trailer or it could be a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the sequel. Even without the special bonus, it is worth catching Dune on the big screen if, like many people, you’ve only seen it from the comfort of your own home.
Unhelpfully, the official Dune website doesn’t have any mention of the special IMAX screening for the film at the time of writing, so you’ll have to check with your local theater to see if they are carrying a showing.
Dune: Part Two is due to hit cinemas around the world on March 1, 2024, having had its original release date moved due to the Hollywood strikes of 2023.
