Once again, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has hit cinemas around the world and offered fans a taste of what season four of the hit anime has to offer. If you’ve gotten to the end of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training and are wondering what its ending means for Tanjiro, Nezuko, and the rest of the Demon Slayer Corps, here is everything you need to know.
Be warned that we’ll be discussing spoilers for upcoming episodes of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime below.
What happens at the end of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training?
Just like in the previous theatrical release of Demon Slayer, To the Hashira Training isn’t really a film – instead, it is a collection of the last two episodes of season three of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and the first two episodes of season four, giving fans a recap of what happened at the end of the Swordsmith Village arc and a preview of the Hashira Training arc.
After an encounter with demons at an abandoned castle, Obanai Iguro and Sanemi Shinazugawa – the Serpent and Wind Hashira, respectively – catch a glimpse of Infinity Castle, the home and fortress of the demon king Muzan Kibutsuji. Afterward, they and the rest of the Hashira are summoned back to the Demon Slayer headquarters by their master Kagaya Ubuyashiki, though he is too ill to preside over the meeting and has his wife Amane address the assembled Hashira in his place. It is explained that Muzan will likely stage a powerful attack on the Demon Slayers in order to kidnap Nezuko now that she has developed the ability to survive in the sun.
Amane also explains that two Hashira have awakened a new power known as the Demon Slayer mark, something that appears every few generations and can increase a Demon Slayer’s speed, strength, and flexibility greatly. The key to defeating Muzan is for the rest of the Hashira to unlock their own marks and tap into this power.
To unlock this mark, the Hashira intend to undergo extreme training designed to meet very specific conditions. Those are raising their body temperature to 102 degrees Fahrenheit and having a heart rate of over 200 beats per minute. To enact this training and to help prepare for the upcoming attack from Muzan, all active members of the Demon Slayer Corps are called back to undergo intense training with current and former Hashira.
We only get a glimpse of what the Hashira Training will entail before the credits close on the latest Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba film. Tengan Uzui, the former Sound Hashira, is shown to be delivering stamina training to the members of the Demon Slayer Corps despite having lost one of his eyes and an arm during the Entertainment District arc. He taunts the recruits who struggle to keep up that the other Hashira’s training will be far more strenuous than what he is delivering while we are shown glimpses of what that training looks like.
What does Hashira Training entail?
The upcoming arc of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime focuses on the training the Hashira deliver to members of the Demon Slayer Corps. This means going through each Hashira in order and being taught some of their key skills. During this time, the Hashira are also improving their skills and attempting to unlock their Demon Slayer Marks.
Members of the Demon Slayer Corps move from one Hashira to the next in the following order:
- Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui – Stamina Training
- Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito – Quick Movement Training
- Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji – Flexibility Training
- Serpent Hashira Obanai Iguro – Sword Skill Revision
- Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa – Infinite Pounding Training
- Stone Hashira Gyomei Himejima – Muscle Reinforcement Training
Only two current Hashira don’t take part in the Hashira Training program – these are the Water Hashira Giyu Tomioka, who refrains for reasons that will become apparent during the upcoming anime season, and Insect Hashira Shinobu Kocho, who needs that time to prepare poisons before the inevitable attack from Muzan.
