Watch the Defending Manga panel from NYCC 2022!

The New York Public Library has gathered Dr. Joe Sanchez, Renee Scott, Erica Friedman, Rieko Ishibashi, and Jillian Rudes to talk about challenges to manga in the 21st century

For many in the world, manga is the most popular form of comics in the world. If you disagree, look around at who's reading them - and the steady pipeline of new fans thanks to popular anime. But with all that, there are some manga that set off alarm bells - especially in the Western world. At New York Comic Con 2022, the New York Public Library's Cener for Public School Education organized a group of scholars and librries to talk about the popularity and changes manga faces in a panel titled 'Defending Manga.'

And now you can watch it from anywhere. Popverse filmed this and many other panels at New York Comic Con this year (see the complete line-up here), which you can watch by becoming a Popverse member at the 'Fan' level (or higher).
