Amazon, Paramount, & Netflix are in a bidding war for John Cena's Coyote Vs. Acme (Since Warner Bros. doesn't want it)
This is like a cartoon come to life
How much would it cost to buy John Cena's Coyote vs. Aceme movie that Warner Bros. made then decided not to release? That's the question being asked as a bit of a bidding war is underway between several high-profile stuidios over the contested project.
Puck News is reporting that Netflix submitted a bid of around $40 million - that's less than half of the hybrid live-action/animated movie's announced budget.
Paramount have made an undisclosed bid as well according to Deadline, and sweetened the pot with a promised theatrical release instead of 'just' going direct to a streaming platform.
Amazon is also in the running, although it hasn't decided on an offer according to Deadline.
According to the Hollywood trade, both Sony and Apple asked about the film but after watching it decided not to get into this bidding war.
Deadline goes on to say that Warner Bros. is hoping to its $70 million budget back - plus a profit.
