Kingdom Come is coming, again.

A documentary about the iconic DC miniseries Kingdom Come from Alex Ross and Mark Waid is to be announced in July 2024 ahead of Comic-Con International: San Diego. The purported title of it is Legend of Kingdom Come, as teased by Ross himself on social media.

Originally published in 1996, the four-issue series Kingdom Come fast-forwards in DC time to depict older versions of Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman - grappingly with age, changing times, and the rise of a new generation of heroes - some of which are at the least more reckless and violent than DC's original heroes, and at most are straight-up villains. Originally invisioned as a DC equivalent to Ross' 1994 Marvel series Marvels, under his and writer Mark Waid's watch it became a seminal comic in the DC universe and a thesis on superheroes in changing times.

While not considered in-continuity at the time, it has worked its way into canon several times in comics. An animated version of Kingdom Come was in talks in the early 2020s, but the project was said to be canceled following the hiring of new DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. That being said, the Superman emblem in DC Studios' upcoming live-action Superman film is eerily similiar to Ross' rendition of the SUperman logo, minus the dark color scheme.

It is unclear if the Kingdom COme documentary is an official DC production, however it would be in line with a number of DC-based documentaries Warner Bros. has greenlit since Gunn and Safran have been put in charge.

Look for more details on the Kingdom Come documentary soon.
