Something is Killing the Children and lots of other things in Hello Darkness, the new horror anthology including work from The Boys co-creator Garth Ennis, James Tynion IV, and many more

Maybe you remember when we broke the news that BOOM! Studios was getting together with creators including Garth Ennis, R.L. Stine, James Tynion IV, Becky Cloonan, and Genevieve Valentine — to name just a few; there are a lot more involved — to create a showcase for some of the best modern horror comics around with a new series launching this summer called Hello Darkness. Perhaps you even thought to yourself, ‘You know, I’d love to take a look at that for myself.’

Good news, friends: we’re giving you a chance to do that, with an extended look at stories from the first issue. How extended, you ask? Well, in addition to the three covers for the issue, we’re also giving you preview pages from almost every single story in the issue… which is to say, each of the following:

  • The War, part 1 (of 7) written by Garth Ennis, illustrated by Becky Cloonan, colors by Tamra Bonvillain, letters by Pat Brosseau
  • Something is Killing the Children: A Monster Hunter Walks Into A Bar part 1 (of 6) written by James Tynion IV, illustrated by Werther Dell’Edera, colors by Miquel Muerto, letters by AndWorld Design
  • The Foster written by Steve Orlando, illustrated by A.L. Kaplan, colors by Marissa Louise, letters by Jodie Troutman
  • The Siren by Sarah Andersen
  • Contagious written by Jude Ellison S. Doyle, illustrated by Letizia Cadonici, colors by Alessandro Santoro, letters by Becca Carey
  • Stay in Your Lane written by Dave Cook, illustrated by David Cousens, colors by Angel De Santiago, letters by Nathan Kempf

The only contribution appearing in the first issue missing from the preview is the first 'I Can’t Take You Anywhere,' by Robert Hack — but then, Boom! has to leave something unseen until the issue hits the stands next month.

Click through the gallery below to get a glimpse at what to expect from the first issue of Hello Darkness… and then head to your local comic store on July 24 when it hits the stands.
