DC is betting big on 2025 bringing a new wave of interest and fans to its comics, thanks in no small part to James Gunn's Superman movie in July. A few months back, DC announced a group of specially-priced, new reader friendly collections of its greatest hits called DC Compact Comics - and now with the first few on shelves, they've announced a second wave.

Announced by means of a sales sheet handed out to librarians at this year's ALA Annual, DC is adding six more titles to the DC Compact Comics line - bridging the gap of origin stories for Batwoman, Static, and Superman, as well as iconic stories of a zombified DCU and heroes getting older.

The DC Compact Comics line are $9.99 collections of DC's greatest hits, printed at a smaller size - which is more economical, but fits better on the shelves of non-traditional comics shelves such as those at airports, department stores, and other locations.

Here is wave 2 of DC Compact Comics:

  • May 6, 2025: Kingdom Come by Alex Ross and Mark Waid
  • May 27, 2025: Static: Season One by Vita Ayala, Reginald Hudlin, Nikolas-Draper-Ivey, and Denys Cowan
  • June 3, 2025: DCeased by Tom Taylor, Trevor Hairsine, and Stefano Gaudiano
  • June 24, 2025: Superman: Birthright by Mark Waid and Leinil Yu
  • June 15, 2025: Superman/Batman: Book One by to be announced
  • June 17, 2025: Batwoman: Elegy by Greg Rucka and JH Williams III

The frist wave of 10 DC Compact COmics titles being released in 2024, with the above being some of the second wave. In the sales sheet announcing this, DC promises "a commitment to multiple waves."
