In 2012, Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner went through a horrible experience when his mother had a stroke. As a result, Wagner championed informing the public of F.A.S.T., an acronym for recognizing signs of a stroke (Face Drooping, Arm Weakness, Speech Difficulties, Time to Call 911). Now, Wagner's advocacy has taken the form of a comic book, and what better place to hear about it than Seattle's own Emerald City Comic Con?
At ECCC '24, comic vet and former Marvel Creative Director Jim Krueger led a panel discussing Wagner's comic, FAST54, in conversation with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Chief Strategy Officer Tom Kruse and Herø Projects Founder Matthew Medney. We managed to film the panel, called Cause Comics: Using storytelling to save lives.
