Blue Lock: Episode Nagi release date: When will those of us outside of Japan be able to see it?

It will hopefully take some of the sting out of the wait for season two

Few nations don’t dream of World Cup glory, so it isn’t surprising that plenty of anime take to the soccer pitch. Blue Lock has earned plenty of love for its compelling characters and unique take on what it means to be an athlete. We’re still waiting for the second season to be made, but all is not lost as the Blue Lock: Episode Nagi film’s release is coming soon.

Based on the spin-off manga, Blue Lock: Episode Nagi focuses on the journey of Seishiro Nagi as he learns to put in the hard work and training needed to become a truly great soccer player. The film is meant to bridge the game between season one and season two of Blue Lock, which has been confirmed but still doesn’t have a release date. Blue Lock: Episode Nagi will be released in Japanese theaters on April 19, 2024. Crunchyroll has confirmed that it will get a North American theatrical release on June 28, 2024.

We’ve already had a trailer for Blue Lock: Episode Nagi and it gives plenty of the show’s trademark intensity and style. While the controversial use of CG animation that divided fans during the first season is still there, the bigger budget that comes with the film helps smooth some of its rougher edges.

Blue Lock: Episode Nagi will come out in Japan on April 19, 2024. Crunchyroll, who have the first season available to stream, have confirmed that it will come to American cinemas on June 28, 2024 with more international dates to follow.
