Blue Beetle is days away from his big screen debut, and there are plenty of ways fans can own a piece of the moment. A new Blue Beetle comic is headed to shelves, Funko's got a new Pop of the main character, and there's even an horchata-flavored coffee with the main character's image on the label. But for some fans, it's not enough to be a part of the current Blue Beetle hype - they've got to get in on his history.

That's why Infinite Crisis #5, the first appearance of Jaime Reyes as Blue Beetle, is seeing big sales numbers from speculators.

The news comes to us via COVRPrice, a service that tracks sales trends in the comic book speculator market. According to an email dated August 8, Infinite Crisis #5 was number seven in the top ten single issues that have seen a spike the first week of August. According to COVRPrice, sales for the comic increased 152%, with an excellent-condition copy selling for $200. Another near-mint edition sold for $33.

Interestingly, the issue is not technically the first appearance of Jaime Reyes. Infinite Crisis, the 2005 series written by Geoff Johns and drawn by Phil Jimenez, Jerry Ordway, and Ivan Reis, actually introduces Jaime in Issue #3. However, it is #5 in which Jaime first activates the Scarab, a piece of alien technology that bonds with him. We get our first sighting of Jaime's iconic suit on that page, and DC gets the third character to bear the Blue Beetle name. The Jim Lee variant of this issue is the first to feature Jaime Reyes's iteration of the character on the cover.

Blue Beetle soars into theaters August 18. You can get tickets on Fandango or Atom Tickets.

Speaking of first appearances, an MCU rumor recently sparked an increase in sales of the first appearance of an obscure Daredevil villain. Whether or not he'll actually appear in Daredevil: Born Again is unknown.
