Some of the best Batman comics are on sale this Black Friday
Some of the most iconic Batman comics are currently half price.
There are countless Batman comics out there, each growing and expanding the Dark Knight’s story in its own unique way. Now, during the 2023 Black Friday sale at Amazon, you can pick up digital copies of some of Batman’s most important and influential titles. We’ve scoured the deals available and found the best comics you can get in this year’s sale to go along with all the other great Batman gifts out there right now.
Batman: A Death in the Family
This was the story that changed the Batfamily forever. DC ran a reader poll to decide the fate of Jason Todd, the second young ward to don the Robin costume. Death in the Family is the result of that poll, with the Joker killing Robin and Batman going out looking for revenge. The digital copy of this highly influential run is currently 52% off on the Amazon Black Friday sale.
The Killing Joke
Another pivotal story for the Batfamily, this time the Joker has set his sights on Commissioner Gordon and his family. After brutally beating and paralyzing Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl, the Joker tries to break Jim Gordon’s mind to prove anyone can become just like him if they have one bad day.
Batman: Year One
Batman’s origin story is one of the most well-known in comic books, but much of how we know it today came from 1987’s Batman: Year One. Here, Frank Miller is at his best, exploring how Bruce Wayne turned his personal tragedy into a quest to rid the streets of Gotham of crime forever. Filmmakers from Christopher Nolan to Matt Reeves have been digging into Batman: Year One for inspiration for generations. The digital copy of this comic is currently better than half off in the Black Friday sale.
Batman ‘89
Another Batman comic that is half off in the Amazon Black Friday sale is Batman ’89. This comic book takes place after Batman Returns and gives us the story of how the streets of Gotham reacted to the emergence of costumed heroes and villains. It collects some of the ideas that never made it into film like Marlon Wayans as Robin and Billy Dee Willams getting a turn at playing Two Face. If you’re a fan of the Tim Burton Batman movies, this is a perfect one to pick up.
Batman: The Long Halloween
The Long Halloween is one of the few comic books that lets Batman truly be the World’s Greatest Detective while also giving us the modern origin of one of the Dark Knight’s greatest enemies, Two Face. This is a tightly written and well-delivered mystery that Batman fans should add to their collection. Unlike the other entries on this list, the paperback edition of The Long Halloween is on sale this Black Friday, marked down by 45%.
Batman and Catwoman
If you wish there was a bit more romance in your Batman comics, we have good news for you. Batman and Catwoman is one of the deepest explorations of comic’s best will-they-won’t-they relationships. It follows Bruce and Selina’s story from how they met, and how they work together, and even gives glimpses at their potential future by introducing their daughter Helena. As a special treat for Batman: The Animated Series fans, it also marks the first appearance of Andrea Beaumont in DC comic books after her introduction in 1993’s Mask of The Phantasm.
