Tom Cruise has announced his Barbenheimer marathon order
The Mission: Impossible actor will be watching both Barbie and Oppenheimer movies, but in which order?
Tom Cruise is a big promoter of the theatrical experience and watching movies in the best format possible -- remember when he and Mission Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie made a PSA about motion smoothing? -- and this summer, with its upcoming war of the blockbusters, Cruise has been taking time out of his Mission: Impossible press schedule to promote his movie's competitors in a "rising tide raises all boats" manner.
Cruise took to social media to showcase his support for this summer's blockbusters with a post that read "This summer is full of amazing movies to see in theaters. Congratulations, Harrison Ford, on 40 years of Indy and one of the most iconic characters in history. I love a double feature, and it doesn't get more explosive (or more pink) than one with Oppenheimer and Barbie." Along with this written post, he included three photos of him and Mission: Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie standing in front of movie theater posters of Indiana Jones, Oppenheimer, and Barbie, holding out their matching tickets for the movies.
The Barbie team of director Greta Gerwig and star Margot Robbie returned the favor in kind, by replicating Cruise's photograph -- this time with their tickets to Mission Impossible.
As for which order Cruise will be watching his Barbenheimer double feature, Cruise has confirmed to the Sydney Morning Herald, “I want to see both Barbie and Oppenheimer. I’ll see them opening weekend. Friday I’ll see Oppenheimer first and then Barbie on Saturday.”
We at Popverse seem to be leaning towards Barbie-first, Oppenheimer-second, but what about you? We'd love to hear how you plan to handle this explosively pink double feature this summer. Vote in our poll below.
