Generations of would-be benders have been waiting from our early childhood to see the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender brought to live action. Whether or not you believe the 2008 movie "counts" or not, the ATLA fandom has been chomping at the bit for more airbending, more earthbending, and more Sokka drinking cactus juice in the desert! On February 22 of this year streaming giant Netflix answered our air bison call when they finally released the full first season of their live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender adaptation.
There is no more passionate subsection of any given fandom than cosplayers! At the recent Emerald City Comic Con Popverse's Ashley Victoria Robinson used her powers of camera and microphone-bending to ask Zukos and Appas and Kataras what they thought of Netflix's unique spin on Avatar: The Last Airbender and what their hopes for the future of the franchise is.
While reviews for the series have been mixed across social media, everyone Ashley spoke with had overwhelmingly positive takeaways from what they had seen of the show - made even more impressive being delivered from the deeply detailed costumes and make up. The throughline was, "I hope they make more".
Even Firelord Ozai had positivity to disseminate to the masses - a nice change of pace for him!
