Amazon's Prime Video released the second season of America Rust, based on Philipp Meyer-Doyle's crime thriller of the same name as American Rust: Broken Justice on March 28th. Whereas the first season of the series, starring Jeff Daniels (The Martian), and Maura Tierney (The Affair), follows the events of the book quiet closely the Broken Justice season is treading new ground in Buell, PA for the first time. Series actors Julia Mayorga (Rare Objects), Rob Yang (Succession), Alex Neustaedter (Colony), Mark Pellegrino (Supernatural), and Luna Lauren Velez (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse), sat down remotely with Popverse's Ashley Victoria Robinson to talk about this shift in the direction of the show and how their characters have evolved from the first to the second season.
Happily for us, Popverse’s Ashley V. Robinson was able to get an early look at American Rust: Broken Justice and get to the heart of each character - what has changed for them? Who still deserves more respect? And where everyone is heading from here?
"The book, itself, which was the source material for season 1 was very emotional and very raw," Mark Pellegrino tells Popverse, "Virgil is really an absentee father in that book, so you don't really see a lot from him in there. But, I'm glad that they wrote it that way because it makes it makes it - it evelvates it above just the crime drama into a family drama. An inter-personal engagement that I think makes the fans much more engaged in the problems that we're going through and they want to root for us."
